Terms of Service

Last updated: June 2026

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of Aurora, a macOS application (“Aurora”, “the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”).

By purchasing, downloading, installing, or using Aurora, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree with these Terms, please do not use the App.

1. About Aurora

Aurora is a macOS tool for photographers designed to help with RAW file importing, organization, and photo statistics/analytics based on metadata available in your files.

Aurora is currently offered as an Early Access product. This means the App is still being improved, tested, and developed over time. Some features may change, be added, removed, improved, or temporarily behave unexpectedly.

2. Eligibility and Requirements

Aurora is currently intended for use on supported macOS versions only.

Before purchasing, you are responsible for checking that your device meets the stated system requirements, including macOS version and any other requirements listed on the Aurora website, checkout page, or product page.

Aurora is not currently intended for Windows, Linux, iOS, Android, or unsupported macOS versions.

3. Purchase and Payment

Purchases for Aurora are processed through Stripe.

By purchasing Aurora, you agree to provide accurate payment and contact information. Stripe may process your payment information in accordance with its own terms and privacy policy.

We do not directly store your full payment card details.

After a successful purchase, you will receive access to Aurora through a license key or another delivery method made available after checkout.

4. License

When you purchase Aurora, you receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App.

You may not:

  • resell, rent, sublicense, share, or distribute your license key;
  • modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except where permitted by law;
  • use Aurora in a way that attempts to bypass licensing, security, or access controls;
  • redistribute the App or make it available publicly without permission.

Unless otherwise stated, one license is intended for use by one person.

5. License Keys and Delivery

Aurora may use license keys or another form of purchase verification to provide access to the App.

Depending on the current delivery system, license keys may be generated automatically or manually. If manual delivery is required, your license key may not arrive instantly and may take a few hours to be sent.

We will do our best to deliver license keys and purchase access as quickly as possible. If you have not received your key or access details within a reasonable time, please contact support with your purchase details.

6. Early Access Disclaimer

Aurora is provided as an Early Access product.

By using Aurora, you understand that:

  • bugs may occur;
  • some features may not be final;
  • performance may vary depending on your hardware, storage devices, card readers, file sizes, macOS version, and workflow;
  • updates may change the way certain features work;
  • occasional issues, crashes, or unexpected behavior may happen.

If you encounter a bug, please report it so it can be investigated and improved in a future update.

7. Data and File Handling

Aurora works with files and metadata on your local device. Aurora doesn't delete your files.

You are responsible for maintaining backups of your files, RAWs, photos, catalogs, exports, and any other important data.

Aurora is designed to assist your workflow, but we cannot guarantee that every file operation, import, copy, move, metadata read, or analysis will be error-free in every environment.

Before using Aurora in a professional or critical workflow, you should test it with non-critical files and make sure it behaves as expected on your system.

8. No Backup Guarantee

Aurora is not a backup service.

You should always keep independent backups of your photography work. We are not responsible for lost files, corrupted files, missing images, failed imports, deleted data, or workflow issues caused by lack of backups, user error, hardware failure, storage failure, operating system issues, third-party software, or unexpected App behavior.

9. Updates

Aurora may receive updates, improvements, fixes, and new features over time.

Because Aurora is in Early Access, updates may be frequent and may change existing behavior. Features may also be removed, renamed, redesigned, or replaced if needed to improve the App.

Access to future updates may depend on the purchase model, license type, subscription status, product availability, or the continued development of the project.

10. Refund Policy

Aurora is a digital Early Access macOS app. Because access is delivered digitally through a license key or purchase access, all sales are generally final once access has been issued.

Refunds may still be considered in specific cases, such as:

  • duplicate payments;
  • accidental purchases before access or a license key has been delivered;
  • failure to deliver access within a reasonable time;
  • critical issues that prevent the App from launching or being used at all on a supported macOS version;
  • other exceptional cases reviewed individually.

Refunds are generally not provided for:

  • unsupported macOS versions;
  • unsupported devices;
  • buyer’s remorse after access has been delivered;
  • expected Early Access bugs that do not prevent the App from functioning entirely;
  • performance differences caused by hardware, storage speed, card reader speed, file size, or system configuration;
  • features that were not advertised or promised at the time of purchase.

This refund policy does not limit any mandatory consumer rights that may apply under applicable law.

If you believe you are eligible for a refund, please contact support with your purchase details and a short explanation of the issue.

11. Support and Bug Reports

Support is provided on a best-effort basis.

You may report bugs, issues, or suggestions through the support channels listed on the Aurora website, product page, or support page.

We will do our best to review reports and release fixes when possible, but we cannot guarantee a specific response time, fix timeline, or resolution for every issue.

12. Third-Party Services

Aurora may use or interact with third-party services such as Stripe, hosting providers, analytics tools, email providers, update delivery tools, or communication platforms.

Your use of those third-party services may be subject to their own terms, privacy policies, and rules. We are not responsible for the availability, actions, policies, or performance of third-party services.

13. Privacy

Aurora is designed to process your photo files and RAW metadata locally on your device.

If Aurora collects, processes, or transmits any personal data, this will be explained in the Privacy Policy.

Payment information is handled by Stripe and subject to Stripe’s own terms and privacy policy.

If Aurora’s data handling changes in the future, the Privacy Policy will be updated to explain what data is collected, why it is collected, and how it is handled.

14. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Aurora in a way that:

  • violates applicable laws;
  • infringes the rights of others;
  • attempts to bypass licensing or access restrictions;
  • interferes with the App’s normal operation;
  • redistributes the App or license keys without permission;
  • damages, overloads, or abuses any related service, platform, or support channel.

15. Intellectual Property

Aurora, including its name, logo, design, interface, features, code, text, graphics, and branding, is owned by its respective rights holder unless otherwise stated.

These Terms do not transfer ownership of Aurora or any related intellectual property to you. You are only granted a license to use the App under these Terms.

16. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Aurora is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied.

We do not guarantee that Aurora will be uninterrupted, error-free, compatible with every setup, or suitable for every professional workflow.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or business losses, including but not limited to loss of files, loss of data, loss of income, loss of clients, loss of opportunities, workflow delays, or production issues.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights that cannot legally be limited.

17. Changes to These Terms

These Terms may be updated from time to time.

If changes are significant, we will try to make them reasonably clear through the Aurora website, product page, app update notes, email, or another appropriate channel.

Continued use of Aurora after changes means you accept the updated Terms.

18. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to Aurora if you violate these Terms, misuse your license, distribute license keys, attempt to bypass licensing, or use the App in a harmful or unlawful way.

If your access is terminated due to a violation of these Terms, you may not be entitled to a refund.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country of residence provide otherwise.

If you are a consumer in the European Union, you may have additional mandatory rights under applicable consumer protection laws.
